Treating Your Child's Teeth & Oral Health

At Adventure Dental and Orthodontics, we take pride in our work and in making our patients feel comfortable when they walk into our office. We know that some parents dread taking their children to the dentist, especially for a procedure such as a dental crown, because of the anxiety it can cause. For this reason, we strive to provide an environment that teaches our young patients that the dentist can be fun.

Educated at UCLA and trained through the Harvard School of Dental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital, we are confident in our ability to handle even the toughest of cases. As experienced pediatric dentists, we love working with children and consider ourselves experts in behavior management. We’re dedicated to making sure that our patients develop a positive attitude about visiting their dentist so that they can grow up with healthy, vibrant smiles.

What is the Purpose of a Dental Crown?

There are limits to what can be treated with a filling. In most cases, a dental crown is used to restore severely broken-down teeth or a tooth that has had a baby root canal. Sometimes a crown is used when a tooth did not develop properly. Crowns for children are different because, after the decay is removed, they are fit directly to the tooth to maintain the space. This is all accomplished in one appointment to reduce the number of visits your child makes to the dentist.

At Adventure Dental and Orthodontics, in Santa Clarita and Palmdale, we use stainless steel dental crowns for baby teeth. These crowns are a proven technology that requires minimal tooth structure to be removed. There are alternative white crowns that are advertised for baby teeth, but these crowns require more tooth structure to be removed and are prone to breakage. At Adventure Dental and Orthodontics, we believe that the most important factor in choosing a material is that it allows us to treat your child in as few visits as possible.
